He prayed " Father, please forgive them, For they know not what they do." As He was nailed to the cross, To die for me and you.
He prayed "Oh God, please take this cup" Then said "Thy will be done." He shed His blood upon the cross For each and every one.
For thirty pieces of silver --- Our Savior was betrayed By one of His loved disciples, The sacrifice was made.
Another would deny Him, Three times before the dawn, But never did He falter --- Our Savior carried on.
With a crown of thorns upon His head He bore His cross along --- They beat and flogged and spat on Him, Though He had done no wrong.
Then they nailed Him to the cross To hang until He died --- They broke none of His bones, But they stabbed Him in His side.
They placed His body in a tomb And sealed it with a rock They hired men to guard Him From members of His flock.
Three days later, came the thunder, And a roaring in the ground The guards all ran away in fear --- And no body could be found.
For Christ had risen from the dead And rolled away the stone --- Then He returned to spend some time With those He called His own.
One disciple doubted --- And made his own demands So Jesus let him see and feel --- The nail holes in His hands.
He asked them all to spread His word Then He began to rise, He ascended up to heaven --- Before their very eyes.
He promised to prepare a place For us, up in the sky, And return to take His faithful To dwell with Him, on high.
