CAPTIVE

I’m a captive of contraptions --- I know that this is true Every time I get that urge I’m buying something new.
Things to make life easier --- As I’m becoming old But when I try to use them They make my blood run cold!
Directions in five languages Are there for me to see --- But no matter which I read It’s still all Greek to me!
Push one button, then another, Hold, or some such thing --- Just when you think you’ve got it The telephone will ring
They’re telemarketing again --- They’ve got my number, now They know that I need something To make things easier, somehow.
If I just call this number --- And agree to pay --- They’ll send me what I really need Must be my “LUCKY” day
I’m a captive of contraptions I know that this is true Though every time I buy one --- Things are twice as hard to do!
But I’ll prob’ly keep on thinking Something’s bound to work, some day Till then --- I’ll keep on trying --- To find a “NEW AND EASY” way.
